"Car Wash" and "Everybody Needs Help" Public Service Announcements
SAMHSA's PSAs help communities and organizations share the message that help is available. With treatment and support, recovery is possible. The two treatment and recovery PSAs—"Car Wash" and "Everybody Needs Help"—were filmed in Scott County, Indiana. They premiered in Scott County in English and Spanish in September 2016.
The PSAs feature SAMHSA’s National Helpline—1-800-662-HELP (4357)—as a call to action. They also include the logos of SAMHSA and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
“Car Wash”: This PSA shows people working together to wash a car. As they clean the dirt and restore the shine underneath, the voiceover explains that with treatment, the beauty within can shine again.
"Everybody Needs Help”: This PSA shows how people in the community help each other every day–mechanics working in an auto shop, a young woman helping an older woman with her groceries, and a woman helping a child with his homework. The voiceover explains that everyone needs help and that asking for help is what makes us human. It adds that this is especially true if you need help with a substance use disorder because, with treatment and support from family and community, recovery is possible.
